What if ... people could just snap their fingers, no ... find a genie, you know, the kind in the lantern who can grant three wishes. How would that work in an our ad?

You can play this game alone, with a partner, or a group. If you play in a group, you might want to take a click at: > How to conduct a creative brainstorming session. The way you play is to complete the sentence “What if …” And complete it with the most unusual, unconventional, imaginative, outrageous, irreverent, unbelievable idea you can squeeze from that big organ between your ears.
"What if the product was so irresistible that it was used as bait?" “What if fish loved the product? How might that translate into an ad for McDonald’s French fries?” “What if we took a giant step into the future, and found ‘fun' had been outlawed? How might that work in an ad for a low priced automobile? “What if a bunch of grumpy cartoon characters were plotting against our Web site? What is it about Yahoo.com that they don’t like?” It might take you a while to warm up. But once you get into the flow you’ll see how easy and fun it can be. Keep pencil and paper handy to jot down the ideas that seem to have potential. But don’t detail them now. Scribble quickly. Then get back into the rhythm. So don't be shy. Go ahead, generate at least three "What if?" ideas, and explore how they work as ads. |
